Global Learn Day X, Discovery Day, 00:01 Sunday, October 8, 2006.
Global Learn Day X, held on the weekend of October 7 and 8, 2006, was a great success. We opened with a conversation between two icons inside the two worlds where we operate. In the technology world the icon is Sir John Daniel, President of the Commonwealth of Learning -- a man who ".... earned his knighthood changing the landscape of higher education in the United Kingdom". The other icon is Vint Cerf, one of the fathers of the Internet and who now holds the title of "Chief Internet Evangelist" for Google. We closed the event with the most exciting voice we have ever recorded, that of Bruce Best from some small speck on the Pacific -- where he is bringing education by just about everything but smoke signals and tin cans tied to a string.
