You are NEVER too Old to Learn

What makes a person a life long learner? Dr. Terrence R. Redding shared his theory that it is the “First Moment of Lasting Excitement” during Global Learn Day in 1997. Whether it was that, or something else, Walter Seton Bunker has it. It may have taken him 70 years to complete his college education, but he did it.

How many of us have started and stopped our educations, not because of a last of desire, but because life interfered. This is part of what Global Learn Day celebrates, the reality that no matter how old we are or WHERE we are, we can still learn. War, sickness and life did not stop Walter and at the age 90 he graduated cum laude. He is an inspiration to all those who have a thirst for knowledge.

The question I have for you… What are you going to learn about next?

Preparing for the Voyage

Global Learn Day is a celebration of learning, a voyage around the world as we collaborate as one people on something of global importance… Education. This year our team is working on exciting material, new ideas and additional avenues for participation. We encourage all previous “travelers” to stay tuned in the coming months as we will be accepting speakers, working with educators and students and preparing for this upcoming GLD 2017!

Sail Away With Enya

If Ben Franklin is our (self appointed) “Patron Saint of Free Universal Education“, why can’t we enlist Enya to add imagination, wonder, and extraordinary musical talent to the Voyage?

Which is exactly what we have done. For many, many years. Introduced to us  by the  late, great Kansas State University music instructor, Vaudene Fields. (oh how we miss her!)

With an eternity of thanks to Vaudene, and all that she brought to our Clipper, here is Enya.
