All Ambassadors will be expected to undergo training designed to make them more effective on arrival overseas.

This training will come in two segments:

Segment One: On-line Training - March - May 2005

During this segment, the following issues will be addressed

  • Ben Franklin Highlights

General Biography
Way to Wealth
Diplomacy
Inventions and Innovation

  • Destination Contacts - Introduction and Research

Communications with key parties in destination cities/region
Research to find new contacts
Building a shared data base

  • Communication - New Tools - New Cultures

Introduction to New Tools
Practice makes perfect
All about the culture

Segment Two: 7 Days in Eugene, Oregon - Summer, 2005

Selected candidates, together with approximately 30 other Ambassadors with assignments geographically proximate to each other, will gather in Eugene, Oregon for seven days of conversation, training, seminars and technology practice sessions. There, they will undergo one week of instruction and guidance with respect to the work abroad. Some will be in the form of Seminars and leadership training will be conducted by specialists with have international backgrounds in diplomacy, business, education, technology.

Early afternoons and the evenings will be "open" -- primarily to give time for the Ambassadors to learn about each other.

Each candidate will be provided an individual room together with breakfast and lunch. All rooms are connected to the Internet; all bedding will be provided.
