The Franklin Ambassador Program

A Global Celebration in Salute of
Franklin's 300th Birthday

The Ambassador

Program

Full Cost Per Ambassador

The full cost to place each Franklin Ambassador overseas, including round trip economy air fare, resident housing, meals, stipends and supporting expenses is approximately $20,000. These costs will be paid by a variety of grants, scholarships, sponsorships, gifts and various other under-writings as applicable on a case-by-case basis.

No two Franklin Ambassadorships are alike.

Further information will be provided upon receipt of candidate's application for an Ambassador position.

GRANTS and SCHOLARSHIPS

No application for grants or scholarships will be considered until after advice by the Selection Committee that a (preliminary) application has been approved.

At that time, each applicant will be afforded detailed information appropriate to the (probable) destination and appropriate to the individual's application and personal background.

RESIDENT HOUSING WHILE ABROAD

In most cases, housing will be provided by residents or educational facilities with whom the Institute has a relationship. These accommodations will be clean, modest and safe. They will also be reasonably central to most of the places where work is required.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

In most circumstances, Ambassadors will use local public transportation.

MEALS WHILE ABROAD

Each situation is slightly different than all others. However, in almost all cases, breakfast and evening meals will be provided.

CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP

In some cases, a Corporation may underwrite all or a portion of the cost of the Ambassador. Applicants can be expected to make contact with Corporations with whom the Institute may have applied on behalf of the applicant.

STIPENDS

In those cases where stipends are available, such will be modest and designed to cover the minimum "out-of-pocket" costs Ambassadors will encounter.

COSTS TO BE BORNE BY THE AMBASSADOR

Ambassadors should be prepared to fund all entertainment, local transportation, some meals and those reasonable "extras" one can normally expect in any four month period abroad.
