Public Relations Interns and Volunteers Wanted

Public Relations Interns and Volunteers Wanted
The most powerful force of the Internet - and by extension for use in education - is the ease to electronically collaborate worldwide. One aspect of this is that for the first time in all history it is possible for a very few persons to network themselves and their ideas in a way which can reach millions. Even billions.
It is also possible to acquire a very good job by learning the technology we use and by gaining the skills acquired by professionally supervised public relations campaigning.
We need part time volunteers and dedicated interns to reach target groups as listed below. For some of you this might lead to full time jobs. For others, you will give of yourself because you feel that the outcome or all of this will help lead to a better, safer world.
If interested in volunteering, or to learn more please contact Socrates Academy Contact.
The Tasks and the Targets
and Possible (Paid) Job Outcome
The leadership of the companies listed below need to be contacted. In most cases the job will be to "track down" the name and e-mail address of the responsible person of each individual company. Substantial research guidance and follow up assistance will be provided by Franklin personnel. But the main job of introductory (e-mail) contact will be by the individual selected for each of these target areas:
- English Language Newspapers: 1,200 English language newspapers are circulated in over 200 non-English language countries. This is a very good job for someone interested in either working abroad as in the print media, or for developing specialty skills in international public relations.
- English Language Radio: There are approximately 2,220 "community" radio stations which have English language broadcasts in non-English language countries. This is a very good job for someone interested in either working abroad in the broadcast media, or for developing specialty skills in international public relations.
- Community Radio Stations: There are approximately 65,000 community radio stations, a great many of whom are involved in "education" projects. This job requires language skills related to the targeted areas; it is particularly ideal for Spanish-speaking individuals interested in international public relations, international broadcasting, and international commerce. It is a tough job but could be exceptionally rewarding.
- American College Community: There are over 1,300 American collegiate radio and television stations and over 5,000 collegiate newspapers. We would like to reach all of them. Unquestionably, skills acquired through this work will lead to employment opportunities with hundreds of employers who would like to also reach this same community.
- Small Town American Newspapers: There are over 10,000 small town independent newspapers in the United States. We would like to reach all of them. Anyone interested in working in American public relations should have the skills that will come from learning how to affordably, intelligently contact these newspapers.
- Public Service and Cable Television: There are thousands of "public service" television stations, many of whom are chartered to have programs of an "educational nature". We have a 30 minute video of a distance education presentation by Sir John Daniel which should be of interest to the bulk of these stations. Introduction of that film and the subsequent follow up should lead to international work involving specialty television programming.
- Corporate Sponsors: This is a commission job to reach forward thinking corporations for purposes of introducing them to sponsorship opportunities. This is a very good job for those who may be job hunting for work with Fortune 1000 companies - people who understand that the best jobs are the ones not advertised but acquired through the kind of relationship building that comes from this work.
- Associations: We would like to reach various civic minded associations with the idea to recruit individuals within each to promote the work of the Socrates Academy. The good news about this job is that many of the people who work within these associations are receptive to the concepts we promote and will take upon themselves the challenge of spreading the word to their own members.
If you would like to help in this journey, please write to John Hibbs.
